Adverse Credit Mortgage Remortgage UK
Repairing your adverse credit file
The
first step to repairing your credit file is to find out about it. How
do I get my credit report?
The best way to do this is to contact one of the two main credit bureaus
and ask them to send you your credit report. The two credit bureaus are:
Experian Consumer Help Service
Tel: 0115 976 4050

Equifax Plc
Credit Advice Centre
Tel: 08705 143700

There are many things that look bad on your credit report. Lenders assess information differently. Some common examples are: multiple searches, late payments, defaults (paid/unpaid), CCJ's, bankruptcies and repossession orders.
When you have had a look through assess how bad it is and prioritise payments that are currently in arrears. Get payments back in line and keep a track of your file through the credit bureaus to ensure that everything is being paid on time.
If you have equity in your house, and crippling debts, it may be worth
looking at remortgaging to consolidate your debts into a low interest
rate monthly payment- your mortgage payments.
